Sarer Scotthorne and I went to MJ Duggan’s ‘An Evening of Spoken Indulgence’ at The Hydra in Bristol last night, I read some poems from Claremont Road (Erbacce Press) accompanied by looping samples from a Buddha Box, along with poets Nick Lovell, Johnny Davies and Matt. We met some lovely people and heard some great poetry. The Hydra is a community bookshop, coffee shop, music venue and meeting/event space on Old Market in central Bristol. The next ‘Evening of Spoken Indulgence’ is Friday April 25th from 6pm at The Hydra. Copies of Claremont Road are now in stock at The Hydra Bookshop 34, Old Market, Bristol.
Also The Hydra provides a meeting space, as well as an outlet for independent non-commercial publishers and authors to make their books and ideas accessible to the wider community. These books are on topics ranging from politics, history, feminism, animal rights, environmentalism to novels and biographies as well as pamphlets and magazines that it may be difficult to track down in the usual high-street bookshops.
On Saturday April 26th the Bristol Anarchist bookfair and the Bristol Radical History Zone is at The Hydra bookshop.
